Visiting...

That last week when we did not post at all (and heard about it from some of you), it was because we were having such a great time with my brother Matthew and his girlfriend Kerry! They are both teachers in NYC and had a winter break, so we were thrilled that they decided to spend it here. One fantastic week of quality time, deepening relationships, worshipping together on Ash Wednesday, getting Noah to walk, good food and fiercely competitive Scrabble. In the last few years, our busy schedules as students and teachers have limited our time together, and the more we get, the more I miss it. I have learned so much from my "little" brother. He is becoming a true New Yorker, enjoying his students and life in the East Village. The Lord has given him - and Kerry - a genuine heart for Biblical social justice, for those who Jesus called "the least of these". If you're ever up in the Big Apple, give him a ring - he'll take you to the best Indian food in Manhattan.
We also got to spend some great time with more of Kerry's family, which was a lot of fun. Her twin sister Erin lives in DC and teaches at a public elementary school there, and her younger sister Siobhan is at JMU (go Dukes!).

Great times all around!
One evening we went to the National Cathedral - I recommend it if you've never been. It's quite spectacular, one of my favorite places in D.C.
The cathedral visit was followed by dinner at nearby restaurant 2 Amys, some of the best pizza in town (more on it in an upcoming restaurant blog)
